Carling Knockout Cup: Golden Arrows pierce TS Galaxy's hearts with extra time winner

Golden Arrows defeated TS Galaxy 2-1 after extra time in their Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final encounter at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.

Arrows took the lead through a Sibonelo Cele own goal in the 19th minute with the first shot on target in the match as both sides adopted a cautious approach in the first half.

However, the visitors conceded an own goal themselves in the 43rd minute through the Rockets defender MacBeth Mahlangu in the 44th minute to level the score heading into half-time.

The home side (Arrows) came out with more intent to score in the second half, with Seden Junior Dion and substitute Jerome Karelse coming closest to scoring before the match headed into extra-time.

After no clear chances in the first stanza of extra-time Nqobeko Dlamini finished confidently past TS Galaxy goalkeeper Ira Tape to give the Durban-based outfit the lead in the 99th minute.

Abafana Bes'thende were able to withstand a frantic second half of extra time with end-to-end football and progressed to the semi-final of the 2025/26 Carling Knockout Cup.
