Bernardo Silva determined to give his all until his time with Man City ends

Bernardo Silva has reiterated his determination to keep fighting until the very end as Manchester City continue their pursuit of silverware on multiple fronts this season.

The Portuguese midfielder, now in his ninth campaign at the Etihad Stadium, is in the final year of his contract but has remained tight-lipped over his future plans.

"I'm enjoying this season," said the 31-year-old.

"I'm trying to give it all for the club that gave me this opportunity to be here for so long and to achieve what I achieved.

"Until the end, I'm going to be here fighting for the club and for the fans."

City strengthened their position in Europe on Wednesday night by securing qualification for the Champions League round of 16 with a 2-0 victory over Galatasaray.

First-half goals from Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki proved decisive, ensuring progress while also lifting Pep Guardiola's side to eighth place in the league table. That finish allowed City to avoid a potentially taxing two-legged playoff round next month.

However, confirmation of their final standing did not come immediately. City were forced to wait after the final whistle as Real Madrid, the only side capable of overtaking them, were playing Benfica at the same time.

Madrid trailed 3-2 heading into stoppage time, knowing an equaliser would push City into the playoff round.

Instead, a late Benfica goal extinguished that possibility, simultaneously eliminating Madrid's chance of overtaking City and sparing Benfica from elimination.
