Barcelona forward Ferran Torres ruled out of Girona clash with hamstring injury

Barcelona have confirmed that forward Ferran Torres will miss the club's upcoming La Liga fixture against Girona, as the team returns to action following the October international break.

The decision has been described as precautionary, but it adds to the growing list of injury concerns for head coach Hansi Flick.

Torres was forced to withdraw early from international duty with Spain earlier this week after experiencing discomfort in his left hamstring. Both the club and the Spanish Football Federation clarified at the time that the issue was a muscular overload without any associated structural damage.

Despite hopes that the 25-year-old would recover in time, lingering discomfort has persisted, ruling him out of Saturday's Catalan derby at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

"First team player Ferran Torres will miss tomorrow's match against Girona as a precaution, due to discomfort stemming from the hamstring overload in his left leg, sustained during the international break," read the statement from the club.

Torres now joins an expanding injury list at Barca, which already includes Raphinha, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Robert Lewandowski, Joan Garcia, and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Fermin Lopez and Lamine Yamal remain doubtful for the match, although there is hope they could play some part.
