Amogelang Motau happy with Banyana Banyana preparation process ahead of WAFCON

Banyana Banyana midfielder Amogelang Motau says their participation in the Three-Nation series against Botswana and Zambia will put the team in a good position as they look forward to WAFCON.

This comes as Banyana prepare to host Botswana in the opening fixture at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Motau believes their WAFCON preparation process has been successful, as they work towards achieving a good blend between senior and junior players in their upcoming international friendlies.

"I think for now it's been really good. We've been utilising every FIFA break to get together in camp, introduce new players, attempt new formations, and as I've said before, Banyana Banyana is in a transitional period, so it's going to be very important for us to cultivate chemistry as soon as possible," said the robust midfielder.

The Club Tijuana rising star adds that her main goal is to work hard and to make the final squad for WAFCON, with the Three-Nation series presented as an opportunity to showcase her talent.

"My goal right now is to simply make the team, and of course to make sure that I influence the team in a positive manner," said Motau.

Wafcon defending champions, South Africa, have been placed in Group C, alongside Ghana, Mali and Tanzania. Motau believes the friendly matches against some of the best teams in Cosafa will be good preparation for the big task ahead.

"I think it puts us at ease knowing full well that we have good opponents to compete against before WAFCON. Botswana are a good team as we've discovered before in the past, and Zambia will give us a physical challenge that the team can look forward to," explained the Banyana Banyana international.

Motau reveals their main strategy ahead of WAFCON is placing great focus on what's at hand and taking it one step at a time.
