South Africa secured progression to the third round of the CAF Women’s Olympic qualifiers after completing a dominant 7-0 aggregate victory over Madagascar in Bloemfontein.
Motau says the team achieved its objectives while giving the home crowd an opportunity to see new players in action.
“I think today was a good game. It was one of the games that we needed to make sure that we win, so that we get into the next round of the qualifiers, and that was the most important thing. The atmosphere was amazing, the crowd here in Bloemfontein was great. I wish we can come back to Bloemfontein again.
“Also, it was an amazing game for us to try new things, experiment and bring on new players. Our perspective and objectives were executed,” said Motau.
Motau also had a message for young girls aspiring to represent Banyana Banyana, emphasising the importance of education and progressing through the ranks of football.
“First of all, I just want to say thank you to Sasol for making this possible and giving us a platform to show aspiring Banyana players that it is possible. I would like to say to the young girls first focus on school, get into school sports and varsity football, and push your way up to the national team. Those steps will help you to become a pro one day,” she expressed.
