Aleksandar Kolarov insists Inter Milan still in control of Serie A after Fiorentina slip

Aleksandar Kolarov has insisted Inter Milan still control the Serie A title race after their 1-1 draw at Fiorentina on Sunday, despite another frustrating result at the top.

Standing in for the suspended Cristian Chivu, Kolarov watched Inter miss the chance to restore an eight-point lead after Cher Ndour cancelled out Francesco Pio Esposito's early opener late in the match.

The result left Inter six points clear after AC Milan had cut the gap with a win over Torino, but it also extended Inter's winless run to three league games.

"It wasn't our best game, and we are not in our best moment," Kolarov said. "But we are still six points clear, so everything is in our hands."

Inter have now drawn back-to-back matches following last week's stalemate with Atalanta, and their recent dip has seen them drop 12 points from winning positions this season.

They were also second best for long periods in Florence, with Fiorentina creating more chances and finishing with a higher expected goals tally. Goalkeeper Yann Sommer was kept busy, while Inter missed late opportunities through Nicolo Barella and Manuel Akanji.

Kolarov admitted fatigue may be playing a role. "We are lacking sharpness and determination. We have played many games and it adds up," he explained.

Still, he remained defiant about Inter's position. "People expect everything from Inter, but you can draw away against a strong Fiorentina side in good form. This is not a bad point."

He added: "If we are six points clear, it means we have done many things well. The title race is ours to finish."
