Alejandro Garnacho joins Aston Villa as Unai Emery backs winger to shine

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on a season-long loan, with a conditional obligation to make the move permanent next year.

Villa manager Unai Emery welcomed the 22-year-old, saying the club are excited by what he can bring.

"We are delighted with Alejandro. He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy," Emery said.

Garnacho arrives at Villa looking to revive his career after a frustrating spell at Chelsea. He joined the London club from Manchester United for 40 million pounds last year but struggled to become a regular starter.

The Argentine made 43 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, scoring eight goals during the campaign.

Before moving to Stamford Bridge, Garnacho spent five years at Manchester United, where he scored 26 goals in 144 appearances. He eventually fell out of favour under former head coach Ruben Amorim before completing his move to Chelsea.

A product of Atletico Madrid's academy, Garnacho was named in Argentina's 55-man preliminary World Cup squad earlier this year but missed out on a place in the final selection.
