Haaland cleared to face Aston Villa as Man City sweat over three injuries

Erling Haaland will be available for Manchester City's Premier League trip to Aston Villa on Saturday after recovering from the knock that ruled him out of their 5-1 Champions League victory over AEK Athens.

Haaland limped off after City's win over Ipswich Town last weekend and was an unused substitute in midweek, when Phil Foden stepped up with a hat-trick in his absence.

City coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed that the Norwegian striker is fit to return at Villa Park, providing a boost ahead of a challenging away fixture.

However, City are still waiting to assess Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic and Nico O'Reilly, with all three facing late fitness tests.

"We have a session this afternoon. They could all be available or not in terms of if there is still doubt," Maresca said.

"Yesterday they were all improving, so we will see this afternoon. Erling is the only one 100 per cent available and the other three we need to wait to the session."
