Agent gives update on Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart

Kaizer Chiefs will officially conclude a new contract with Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart next week, his agent has confirmed to SABC Sport.

At the end of the month, Yusuf Maart will reach the end of his initial deal with Chiefs, which he signed when he first joined from Sekhukhune United three years ago.

Maart finished the 2024/25 season strong with Amakhosi, helping them win the Nedbank Cup by beating rivals Orlando Pirates in Durban and ending the club’s decade-long trophy drought.

It was Maart who scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory for Chiefs to also guarantee the club continental football in the CAF Confederation Cup, but as it turns out, talks for his new contract were still ongoing.

But it now appears as though the two parties have found common ground with agent Karabo Tshabuse informing the public broadcaster that a deal was now imminent for her client.

“Yes, we are renewing his contract in the coming week,” she said without disclosing any further details on the length of the pending agreement.

Chiefs are once again in the process of assessing the squad before they leave for their pre-season camp in the Netherlands next month and want to iron out a few of the outstanding contract issues.

The Glamour Boys have already signed defenders Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane, who will join the club as free agents from Pirates while they have also offloaded a few more.

Edmilson Dove, Sabelo Radebe, Ranga Chivaviro and Mduduzi Mdantsane did not have their contracts renewed.
