Abdeslam Ouaddou leaves Marumo Gallants

Marumo Gallants coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has left the club, despite having improved their fortunes in the last few months and even turned them into contenders for the top eight.

The Moroccan coach arrived in the country at the end of February, following the departure of Dan Malesela, and immediately impressed with a win over Orlando Pirates in his first game.

He guided Bahlabane ba Ntwa to 10th place overall this season, and could have made the top eight had he won his final game against Magesi FC on the final day.

"It had been a great pleasure to have collaborated with all the resources of the club", said Ouaddou

"I would like to first of all thank my players, my president, as well as all the stakeholders of the club who participated from near or far in this mission to save the club without forgetting our magnificent supporters. The people of Bloemfontein will remain in my heart forever".

It is not yet clear whether the 46-year-old former Morocco international is planning to further his career elsewhere, but he says he remains open to any proposal for an ambitious project and is determined to take on a new challenge.

Just this week Ouaddou spoke to SABC Sport about his plans for the club going forward, and said he was in talks with the chairman Abram Sello about the direction in which he'd like to take them.
