The two sides meet at the iconic venue for the first time since their 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup quarter-final, where New Zealand secured a 46-17 victory.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Mpupha added that the team is grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Rugby Greatest Rivalry double-header and are determined to put on a memorable show.

“We have had historic moments before as the Springbok Women, and this weekend is another one that we look forward to against the Black Ferns. The key thing to make sure we win this clash is to focus on ourselves and stick to the game plan.

“It is a privilege to be a part of this historic double-header and we hope to give people a memorable show,” said Mpupha.

The Bok Women have endured an intense week of preparation at St John’s College in Johannesburg. Mpupha says the team has worked across different areas of the game to ensure they are ready for the challenge.

“Yes, it was such an intense training session. Like I said, we focus on ourselves, covering different aspects of the game and making sure that we are prepared and have ticked all the boxes,” added Mpupha.

In last year’s World Cup quarter-final, the Bok Women showed their resilience by going into half-time level at 10-10 before the Black Ferns pulled away in the second half.

Mpupha says they will draw confidence from that performance as they look to produce another strong showing against their opponents.

“We honestly enjoyed a good run in last year’s World Cup. I mean, we had another historic moment reaching the quarter-finals for the first time.

“We need to continue that momentum and make sure we have the same confidence that took us to the World Cup quarter-finals,” she expressed.
