Wallaby centre Hunter Paisami cops four-week ban for high tackle against Boks

Australia centre Hunter Paisami was found guilty of dangerous play in the match against South Africa, resulting in a six-week ban that was reduced to four weeks.

There were cards aplenty in the Boks' entertaining 42-38 loss to the never-say-die Wallabies in Perth on Saturday. Arguably the worst offence came from Paisami, who was too upright in his tackle on replacement flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, leading to significant head contact.

On Thursday, SANZAAR handed down judgment on the incident.

"The Disciplinary Committee has found Australian midfielder Hunter Paisami guilty of dangerous play for a contrary tackle, in breach of Law 9.13," it read.

"Paisami was shown a yellow card for the dangerous play in the 76th minute and cited following the international match between Australia and South Africa at Optus Stadium, Perth. The Committee determined that the act of foul play merited a mid-range entry point of six weeks/matches.

"In light of Paisami accepting that he committed an act of foul play, as well as mitigating factors such as his recent disciplinary record, conduct, and remorse, the Committee applied a 2 week/match reduction on the sanction. Paisami has been suspended from all forms of the game for four weeks."

Paisami will miss the two upcoming Bledisloe Cup clashes against the All Blacks. Wallabies coach Les Kiss may have to field an entirely new centre pairing as Paisami's usual partner, Len Ikitau, is under an injury cloud.
