Springbok Women maintain winning momentum at Rugby World Cup

Springbok Women head coach Swys de Bruin believes the ability to handle pressure was key to his team securing a historic win against Italy in their second 2025 World Cup clash in York, England.

The Bok Women claimed a convincing 29-24 win against a top Italian side to help secure second place in Pool D with five points.

Speaking at a post-match presser, De Bruin says sticking to the principles of the game will help the team go far in this global showpiece.

"The Italians play Six Nations, and they also play other tough opponents week in and week out, and they are used to handling the pressure, but our girls are now showing that they can handle pressure just as well."

De Bruin says that it is a dream come true for the Boks to score five tries against Italy, believing this win has earned his players some respect amongst the top teams in the world.

De Bruin adds that South African rugby is in a healthy state and also acknowledged the leadership and supporters for contributing to the success of the national teams.

"The support from back home, and the support here, has been incredible.

"South African rugby is thriving, the U/20's are World Champs, the Springboks are World Champs, the Sevens side is doing brilliant work, together with the Springbok Women."
