Sharks confirm signings of Springboks Trevor Nyakane and Jason Jenkins

The Sharks have added two more Springboks to their burgeoning ranks with the signings of Trevor Nyakane and Jason Jenkins.

The Durban franchise took to social media to reveal two-time World Cup winner Nyakane's signing on Wednesday. It was an open secret that the versatile prop was on his way to Kings Park since it was reported by multiple sources last month, but the Sharks have now finally confirmed.

Nyakane adds to the already considerable might of the Sharks' front row, which already includes Ox Nche, Vincent Koch, Ntuthuko Mchunu and hooker Bongi Mbonambi. The 57-cap Springbok makes his way south after spending two seasons at Racing 92 in France.

Meanwhile, the Sharks also confirmed the services of former Bulls behemoth Jenkins on Tuesday afternoon. The lock cut his teeth in his native Pretoria before heading to Toyota Verblitz in Japan, Munster in Ireland and then finally Leinster in 2022 where he's made 31 appearances since.

Jenkins earned one Springbok cap in 2018 but at just 28 years old, there is plenty of time for him to feature in the green and gold again. The former SA U20 player joins the likes of Eben Etzebeth, Gerbrandt Grobler and Emile van Heerden in the Sharks' lock stocks.
