New Japan head coach Eddie Jones views Cheslin Kolbe as ideal player

New Japan head coach Eddie Jones says his side need more players like Springbok winger Cheslin Kolbe.

Kolbe, back-to-back World Cup winner and one of the highest earning players in the game, is currently plying his trade with Tokyo Sungoliath after winning the European Champions Cup during his time with French Top 14 outfit Toulouse followed by a stint with Toulon.

The 30-year-old was one of the standout performers in the 2023 World Cup and Jones wants his players to take a leaf out of Kolbe's book.

"He's as strong as an ox, he's as fast as a cheetah, and he's as elusive as a ninja - that's how Japanese players can be," Jones said.

"He's a fantastic example, so what we want to find is players who can be like him, and they're out there."
