Late try sees All Blacks clinch Bledisloe Cup and stay in the hunt for Rugby Championship

The All Blacks had to work hard before securing a 33-24 victory over a spirited Wallabies side in their Rugby Championship Test at Eden Park on Saturday.

The win extends New Zealand's unbeaten run at Eden Park to 52 Tests and secures their 23rd consecutive Bledisloe Cup. The All Blacks also crucially secured a bonus point as well to move five points clear of the Boks ahead of their clash with Argentina.

In a fast-paced clash, New Zealand outscored Australia by four tries to three, Cam Roigard crossing for a brace and Caleb Clarke and Leroy Carter also going over. Beauden Barrett added a penalty and conversion, with Damian McKenzie contributing a conversion and two penalties.

For the Wallabies, Billy Pollard, Harry Potter, and Carlo Tizzano scored tries, with James O'Connor adding three conversions and a penalty.

New Zealand struck early, with Caleb Clarke finishing a well-worked move in the fourth minute, although Beauden Barrett missed the conversion from the touchline.

James O'Connor narrowed the gap with a penalty soon after, before Barrett added another three-pointer to restore New Zealand's lead.

The hosts took control in the 14th minute when Leroy Carter barged over from close range following sustained forward pressure.

Ten minutes later, Cam Roigard scored his first try after a sniping break from a ruck near the Wallabies' posts, with Barrett adding the extras to make it 20-3. Barrett was later replaced by Damian McKenzie due to injury.

Australia fought back in the closing stages of the first half. Billy Pollard dotted down from close range following a clever build-up from Fraser McReight and Len Ikitau, and Harry Potter scored just before the break off an Ikitau offload. James O'Connor converted both tries, leaving the score finely poised at 20-17 at half-time.

After the interval, New Zealand capitalized on Australian indiscipline, with McKenzie slotting two penalties to extend the lead to 26-17 by the 55th minute.

The Wallabies responded with attacking forays, eventually being rewarded in the 69th minute when Carlo Tizzano scored off a lineout drive deep inside All Blacks territory.

However, Potter's yellow card for a cynical defensive foul shortly afterwards proved pivotal.

The All Blacks seized the opportunity, and Roigard crossed for his second try in the 75th minute following brilliant combination play from Jordie Barrett and Quinn Tupaea, effectively sealing the 33-24 victory.
