The Springbok Women faced Canada twice in preparation for the Rugby Women’s World Cup in England.

Despite two losses, Kinsey believes the squad gained critical game time and insight against top-tier opponents.

"After facing Canada, we learnt that we just need to play to our strengths, like our domination at set piece time. 

"I think we struggled to get out of our half, but going forward I think we can take a lot of positives, and we now know that we can compete against the best," emphasised the nippy scrumhalf.

The Bok Women are now in Cape Town for their final two warm-up matches against New Zealand’s Black Ferns XV, set to take place on the next two Saturdays. Kinsey, who plays for the Sharks, says the team is building belief with every session and welcomes the challenge of testing themselves against another elite side before heading to England.

South Africa will compete in Pool C at the World Cup alongside France, Italy, and Brazil.

With Swys de Bruin leading the technical team, Kinsey says confidence is growing, crediting both the players’ buy-in and the clarity of the coaching staff’s vision.

Both upcoming fixtures against the Black Ferns XV will be played at Athlone Stadium, a venue Kinsey calls their “unofficial home base.”

She says the team is feeling the support rise, both in the stands and online, and they’re eager to feed off the energy of a growing fanbase.

Swys de Bruin will name the match-day 23 on Thursday, with kick-off against New Zealand scheduled for 17h00 on Saturday evening.
