The U20 side beat Georgia 57-14 at Paul Roos Gymnasium, and speaking after the victory, Foote said he had discussions with his technical team with plans to bring 30 players back by next week.
“I think that this whole tournament has given us the opportunity to blood in guys for next year. To also get guys back who haven’t been in the mix, who’ve been with the URC teams and then obviously guys back from injury. So it is so valuable for us,” said Foote
“But the hard thing now is that we’ve got to fit names in. The coaches and I have had lots of chats about this already and I think we’ll take our time for the next two days just to really take the nerves and emotion out of it a little bit, look at what the balance of the group looks like.”
“I think we’re looking to bring 30 guys back next week and then start to plan two weeks.”
“You know, we want to make sure that the guys are ready to actually perform, not just ready to play, they must be ready to perform. So, these next two weeks will be crucial for those guys, you know.”
Captain Riley Norton credited SA Rugby for the number of tournaments and games they have secured for the side.
“Credit to SA Rugby, you know, there’s a lot of tournaments and there’s a lot of games, and we’ve been really privileged to go from a rugby championship at Georgia to an Island Farm at the end of last year, and have the opportunity to almost rest for two weeks after the rugby championship and come out fresh for this game,” said Norton.
