The Cavaliers continued their impressive return to top-flight domestic rugby as they grabbed their second home win of their 2025 campaign.
Centre Lunathi Nxele of Boland was given an early yellow card for foul play close to his own line. Despite this, the hosts opened the scoring in their home ground when winger Donavan Don finished off from close range after a superb offload from fullback James Tedder in the ninth minute.
Later, the Lions showed good patience close to the line and flyhalf Kade Wolhuter glided through the defensive line to score in the corner. He missed the conversion and the scores were locked at 5-5 after 20 minutes.
Playing to the tune of the stadium's band, Ashlon Davids then created Boland's second try. The flyhalf burst down the blindside and got between two forwards before the ever-present Don scooped up his offload and sped over for his second score of the match. The Sevens star has collected no less than six tries this Currie Cup campaign.
Both teams were victims of trying to play high-tempo rugby as the half closed out, making basic errors leading to turnovers. Boland went down the tunnel 15-5 ahead at the break.
In the second stanza, defence dominated the contest for almost 20 minutes. Lions fullback Giovanni Lombard finally broke the deadlock in the 58th minute after nine phases on the Cavaliers' tryline, which was finally stretched by Lombard in the corner.
Then Tedder turned on the class. With the Lions' defence set, there was nothing on out wide and Tedder put a delicate chip over the line, gathered and released the offload for Xavier Mitchell to dive under the polls. Tedder's conversion took their lead out to 22-10.
Replacement Juan Mostert then put the cherry on top of a decisive victory when he scored Boland's bonus point fourth try in the 84th and final minute of the match.
