The Pumas crushed the Bulls at Loftus while the Cheetahs beat the Sharks in a low-scoring encounter at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Currie Cup action played on Saturday.

The Pumas put on scintillating display to crush the high flying Bulls 41-7 in their Currie Cup clash at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

The home side came into the contest on the back big victories against Western Province and the Sharks in the opening two encounters of the campaign but were brought back down town earth by Jimmy Stonehouse's charges.

Pumas flyhalf Danrich Visagie opened the scoring with a penalty but the Bulls took the lead when wing Riyaad Bam marked his debut witha try and Boeta Chamberlain added the conversion.

The visitors regained the advantage before halftime when Eduan Swart scored a try while Willie Engelbrecht and Tiaan de Klerk added another two five-pointers after interval.

It was one-way traffic as the Bulls could not get back in the game and when Ross Braude went over for a another try the Pumas secured their bonus-point.

Hanno Theunissen and Andre Fouche also scored tries in the closing stages to put the seal on an impressive victory for the men from Witbank.

It was the second win in three matches for the Pumas while it was a first loss of the campaign for the Bulls.

Cheetahs beat Sharks in low-scoring affair

The Cheetahs condemned the Sharks to a third straight defeat of the season after a 7-5 victory in what was a low-scoring affair at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

Both teams scored one try apiece but the difference in the contest was that the visitors succeeded with their conversion to take the win by margin of just two points.

After no score in the opening 20 minutes, the Cheetahs took the lead Neels Volschenk went over for a try with Ntokozo Makhaza adding the crucial extras from the kicking tee.

The Sharks finally made their way onto the scoreboard with 15 minutes remaining when Phatu Ganyane went over for a five-pointer but the conversion was missed.

The Cheetahs then held for the narrow victory for their second win in three matches while the Sharks remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
