The Bloemfontein franchise announced the signing on Thursday, just days after Makhaza's incredible showing in the 2025 Varsity Cup final on Monday night.
The winger was in superlative form, scoring two tries and kicking eight from eight off the tee to almost single-handedly guide the Ikey Tigers to a 44-21 win over Maties.
"The Toyota Cheetahs are thrilled to announce the signing of one of South Africa's most exciting young backline talents, Ntokozo Makhaza," read their statement.
"The 23-year-old wing will join the side ahead of the 2025 Currie Cup season. Being born in Bethlehem in the Free State, Ntokozo Makhaza's move to the Toyota Cheetahs is something of a homecoming, and the Toyota Cheetahs look forward to welcoming Ntokozo to Bloemfontein."
Makhaza was named both the 2025 Varsity Cup Player of the Year and Backline Player of the Year following the Ikey Tigers' empphatic win. It marks the second consecutive year that Makhaza was Varsity Cup Player of the Year, while it was also his third consecutive Varsity Cup final.
