Bulls flyhalf Johan Goosen a doubt for URC quarter-final against Stormers

The Bulls are facing an uncertain week ahead as they await updates on the condition of their flyhalf Johan Goosen.

In Saturday's surprise 31-7 defeat against Western Province in the Currie Cup, Goosen had to leave the field due to an injury, which left his availability for next weekend's United Rugby Championship (URC) quarter-final in Cape Town uncertain.

The Bulls' assistant coach, Hugo van As, revealed that Goosen felt a hamstring twinge before the game and that he had picked up a knock in the first half, but he was cleared to play by the medical staff.

"I am not 100% sure about it. In the warm-up, he felt a tweak in his hamstring [but] he was cleared by the medical staff [to play]," said Van As.

Despite the coach's optimism that Goosen would be fit for the quarter-final, the team remains anxious about his status.

The URC quarter-final between the two teams is scheduled for next Saturday at 15:30.
