Bok star Damian de Allende reportedly sidesteps Stormers deal

The Cape Town-based outfit have already agreed deals with Test trio Siya Kolisi, Cheslin Kolbe and Wilco Louw, and there was talk that the 34-year-old would potentially be joining them.

However, Rapport states that the Stormers have opted not to make a formal offer to de Allende and have instead turned their attentions elsewhere as they look to bolster their midfield options.

With the franchise losing Dan du Plessis to Bordeaux-Begles and doubts around Ruhan Nel's future, they are searching for another centre.

The prospect of seeing de Allende, who is contracted with Panasonic Wild Knights until June 2027, return to the side he spent seven seasons at would therefore be enticing, but the arrival of three key Springboks has put a significant strain on the budget.

"The Stormers' strategy is not to make an offer to every Springbok or star player who wants to return to Cape Town. That would be unaffordable," a source told the publication.

With de Allende off the table, John Dobson's men are looking at the other end of the experience spectrum with rising star Jurenzo Julius in their sights.

Julius is just 22 and has been tipped for Test honours after becoming a regular for the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship.

His deal ends at the conclusion of the 2026/27 season, and it is being reported that the Stormers are eyeing up a move for the highly-rated young centre.
