Stone competed at the Singapore Hyrox earlier this month, where he found the race more demanding than expected, but also picked up some valuable lessons.
Speaking to SABC Sport ahead of the 30 May competition, he said he plans to make only minor adjustments in the weeks leading up to the competition.
"All I'm going to do is fine-tune each and every single station, from my running to my transitions at the stations - I'm going to fine-tune those moments instead of trying to learn a new skill or movement. Instead of worrying about the pace, I'm going to focus on those small details because I'm race ready."
Stone finished 11th in the same event last year in 1:18:34, around 15 minutes behind winner Kyle Schoonbee — but insists he isn’t dwelling on that performance.
"My main thing is to not make it about myself, but to make it about the people who may learn from me or watch me and get inspired.
"For me, just changing the time is the only thing I look at, and I'm changing this time not to prove anyone wrong, but I'm going there to shave off the minutes for me, but also to inspire the next person that is coming up."
As Hyrox continues to grow in South Africa with more interest and sponsors coming on board, Stone – one of the ambassadors – believes it will continue to expand.
