Alberts conquered the experienced Akani Phuzi in a closely contested war of attrition at Emperors Palace last weekend.
"Phuzi was tough for me, and it was difficult for me to figure him out. Sometimes I saw him getting comfortable and setting up the big shots, but I felt good and I felt that I handled him well. I just want to learn and improve as my career goes on.
"I felt tired in the later rounds and it was a more physical fight than what I thought it was going to be."
Last month, Shaun Potgieter reclaimed the South African heavyweight Championship against Chris Thompson at Carnival City, and the champion was present at the press conference in the days leading up to Albert’s victory.
“The Gentleman” believes he is the best heavyweight in the land, but he would like the opportunity to prove that to himself and everyone else with a title shot against “God’s Warrior” Potgieter.
"The SA Title is with Shaun Potgieter at the moment and that would be a great fight. Everyone asks me do I believe that I'm the best heavyweight in South Africa at the moment, and I believe that I am. I want that title so that I can prove to everyone and myself, what I feel in my own heart, and that is that I'm the best. Now it's time to prove it."
Alberts (8-0-1) has successfully made an undefeated start to his pro career in the most dangerous and unpredictable weight division.
He has always set his eyes on fighting overseas and achieving an impressive international ranking, but for now, Juan Alberts can possibly cement himself as the best heavyweight in the country if he maintains his current winning streak in the ring.
