gsport Business Breakfast key to amplify the power of collaboration in sport

Seasoned cricket commentator and gsport founder Kass Naidoo says that this year’s edition of the gsport Business Breakfast was key to help amplify the power of collaboration in sport.

The exclusive women in sport gathering took place at the Henley Business School in Johannesburg this morning. This to continue the work of gsport4girls in stirring global advocacy work for women within the sports fraternity, since inception in 2006.

In an interview with SABC Sport, Naidoo believes that the success of the fourth edition of the gsport Business Breakfast is a direct reflection of how far the organisation has come.

Our goal with the 4th gsport Business Breakfast was to keep amplifying the Power of Collaboration. Collaboration sits at the heart of the #gsportHenley Commercial Stairway, and it remains one of the clearest pathways to advancing women’s sport commercially.

“This year, we evolved the gathering by launching our first-ever Business Accelerator - an intentional space to open the platform to women-led entities and give visibility to brands and organisations strengthening the women’s sport ecosystem. It’s a reflection of how far we’ve come, and how much stronger we are when we build together,” said Naidoo.

For the past 19 years gsport has been steadfast in unpacking issues pertaining diversity, equality and inclusion across all sporting codes. This achieved through dialogue and celebrating wins in the agenda of accelerating progress for women participants in the  sport business. Naidoo explains how they have managed to sustain this culture over the years.

“During the collaborative process with 15 industry leaders in 2021, one of the strongest insights was the need for regular, dedicated commercial gatherings - spaces where the business of women’s sport can be discussed, strengthened, and moved forward collectively. The gsport Business Breakfast is our response to that need, and it has become a central pillar of our culture.

“Today we took another step by introducing the Business of Women’s Sport Accolades, starting with the Power of Collaboration Awards. As we build toward the 5th edition in 2026, our intention is to bring industry players together more frequently and deepen the culture of commercial investment and partnership in women’s sport,” she expressed.
