This after South Africa dominated Malawi to a 37-32 win to defend their championship at the Windhoek Showgrounds, in Namibia.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Mathosa says this is attestment to South Africa currently being the leading African nation in netball.
“It shows that we are the best in Africa. I am glad that I have been a part of this journey since 2021 and we keep winning the championship. I think school sports plays a big role in equipping our players for major tournaments. We want to keep this momentum, come back again and retain this title. I am actually happy that we made South Africa proud,’’ said Mathosa.
South Africa maintained a consistent performance in this year's edition, winning five out five matches, opening with a 53-38 win over Zambia, followed by 92-14 win against Eswatini, and also secure a 48-29 over Malawi in the quarter-final, followed by a 60-26 win against Namibia in the semifinals on Thursday.
This is what she had to say as she reflects on team performance.
“All the girls showed up on court. We gave all of them at least two-halves. They are coachable, always chasing for a win. I am very glad that we were able to do this for South Africa,’’ added Mathosa.
Mathosa adds that she is happy they chose a committed group of the players, who went all out to fly the South Africa flag high.
“I feel great and very proud of everyone who contributed to the win, all the girls and the entire management. Basically, I am most proud of the players we chose because they are the ones who did all the hard work. I am happy we are returning home with a trophy,’’ said Mathosa.
