Branden Grace and Southern Guards keep SA flag flying at LIV Golf South Africa

Branden Grace and Southern Guards GC kept the home flag flying high at LIV Golf South Africa, but it was Bryson DeChambeau who held a narrow lead heading into Sunday's final round.

DeChambeau carded a superb seven-under 64 at Steyn City to reach 21 under overall, maintaining a two-shot advantage over Grace, who matched him with a 64 to sit at 19 under after three rounds.

A tightly packed leaderboard remains in pursuit, with Abraham Ancer and Jon Rahm tied for third on 18 under, while South Africa's Dean Burmester is still in contention at 17 under alongside David Puig and Thomas Detry.

DeChambeau surged ahead early with two birdies and two eagles in a blistering front nine, before steadying on the back nine to preserve his lead under pressure from the chasing pack.

Grace, meanwhile, delivered one of the standout moments of the day with a near-albatross on the par-five fourth, tapping in for eagle as he briefly joined a share of the lead during a dramatic stretch that also saw Rahm and Charles Howell III making serious moves.

In the team event, the all-South African Southern Guards lead on 60 under, holding a two-shot advantage over Fireballs and Torque heading into the final round.

All the South Africans came to the party, with Grace leading the way, but Burmester also doing superbly, while Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel had their best rounds of the week, Oosthuizen carding a 64 and fellow major winner Schwartzel a 65.

Dean Burmester captured the mood of the South African quartet, who have been buoyed by massive support throughout the week.

"It's hard to put into words. I can tell you that first tee, I couldn't feel my hands, feet, legs. I couldn't feel a damn thing. It's just amazing, walking on that tee, they say my name, and it's just thousands of people. It's something you've dreamt of your whole life, and especially to be at home, I think it makes it better. What a day. All four boys had a good day."

The stage is set for a thrilling final round on Sunday, with local hopes Grace and Burmester set to challenge world-class stars DeChambeau and Rahm for both individual and team honours.
