The 21-year-old sensation started the year off with a relatively polished takedown of Yonelisa Poni in February. That was her first ever six round bout and Saturday night will see her step into the ring for her first ten round fight, although she plans to stop the champion.
The young and hungry Promnick says she put her body and mind through a grueling training camp so as to be ready for the biggest fight of her career to date.
“To be honest this camp has been the hardest camp of my life. I have broken myself mentally, physically, and this is my dream. Everything that has happened in my career has led to this moment so I couldn’t be more grateful,” said Promnick
The undefeated boxer trains out of Linden at the Alan Toweel Boxing Gym, where she has learned to finetune her craft under the stewardship of one of the most knowledgeable trainers in the fight game.
During the pre-fight press conference at Emperors Palace, Alan Toweel said his fighter is ready to make the step up on what promises to be a historic night for all involved.
“Thank you to Golden Gloves for this opportunity, Tyla has worked hard to earn this opportunity and I want to extend my gratitude to Rodney Berman, Nivi Grogor, and Jeff Ellis for always keeping us informed about the matchmaking."
The ’One Way to Redemption’ event on Saturday night is expected to deliver fan-friendly action, from the WBC War at the top of the bill, to the two heavyweight tussles, to the thrilling SA Women’s title fight that might just end in Tyla Promnick’s crowning moment.
