Golden Glove’s Rodney Berman predicts one of the best fights South Africa has ever seen and also hinted at a heavyweight tournament in the near future.
"This fight has all those ingredients and more. The South African public is going to see one of the best fights ever in a South African ring on Saturday morning - two purest," said Berman
"And just to mention the undercard, it's a star stacked undercard. I just want to mention specifically that we are going to end the year with a pure african heavyweight explosion."
Rodney Berman and Golden Gloves Director Nivi Grogor were quick to acknowledge the true champion mentality of Melvin Jerusalem and praised the Filipino fighter for giving Kuse another shot at his belt away from the comfort of the Philippines.
The Challenger, Siya Kuse told SABC Sport that he is both anxious and very grateful for the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the great Dingaan Thobela, Thulani Malinga, and Kevin Lerena as the next WBC Champion from South Africa.
South African boxing legend and recently appointed CEO of the Golden Gloves Foundation, Brian Mitchell also voiced his excitement for this historic event and stated he thought Kuse did enough to win the first fight in Manila, but at the same time declared that there won’t be any doubts after Saturday night.
Golden Glove’s ‘One Way to Redemption’ event will also feature two brutal heavyweight contests and a women’s mini-flyweight SA Title fight, and it will all culminate in the rematch between Kuse and Jerusalem for the most coveted prize in all of boxing.
