Last year's Wimbledon semi-finalist looked in complete control for most of the match, following his straight-sets victory over Dusan Lajovic in the opening round with another impressive display. The result kept Fritz's hopes of winning a first Grand Slam title firmly alive.
The opening two sets highlighted the gap in experience between the pair, with Fritz dictating play from the baseline and giving Kypson few opportunities to settle into the contest. The world number 113 raised his level in the third set and pushed Fritz harder, but the sixth seed found another gear when it mattered most, breaking late before serving out the match.
Fritz said he was pleased to finish the contest quickly, especially after the third set became more competitive.
"It feels great, especially when you're first on," he said.
"I feel like I have a good amount of time the rest of the day. Especially just with the feeling of how that third set was going, you play these sets where you feel like you're in control, you're the one with the break chances."
The victory set up a third-round meeting with Italy's Lorenzo Sonego, who advanced after defeating Canada's Gabriel Diallo.
Fritz also entertained the Centre Court crowd before the match with his walk-on outfit. He removed his custom blazer before pulling off his Velcro-fastened overtrousers in one quick motion, drawing loud cheers from spectators.
"It's actually a lot easier to do it," Fritz explained. "I just know when I do it, it's going to be a whole thing. People are going to react to it, which I don't really want.
"I took it off slowly in the first round. I actually made a mess of it. It's actually a lot easier to rip them off. I saw a video of Frances Tiafoe doing it. I was trying to copy him."
Fritz also praised the women's players for raising the standard of Wimbledon fashion, pointing to their creative walk-on outfits.
"The women have done more with the walk-on outfits, making it into a bit of a production. It's cool. It's fun," he said. "I think we'll see if people do more moving forward."
