The Italian's triumph at the All England Club marked his first Grand Slam title of 2026 after losing to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final and suffering an early exit at Roland Garros.
The victory also took Sinner's Grand Slam tally to five titles, moving him ahead of tennis greats such as Jim Courier and Guillermo Vilas.
Sinner has now spent 80 weeks at the top of the ATP rankings, drawing level with former world No 1 Lleyton Hewitt and moving into the all-time top 10.
The 24-year-old has already surpassed several major champions in terms of weeks at No 1, including Carlos Alcaraz, Andy Murray, Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg.
Only nine players have spent longer at the summit, with Novak Djokovic leading the way with a record 428 weeks as world No 1. Roger Federer is second with 310 weeks, while Pete Sampras, Ivan Lendl and Jimmy Connors also sit ahead of Sinner on the list. Rafael Nadal spent 209 weeks at the top, while Bjorn Borg and Andre Agassi are the next milestones in Sinner's sights with 109 and 101 weeks respectively.
With 24 weeks remaining in the 2026 season and Alcaraz currently unable to challenge his position, Sinner is expected to remain world No 1 for the rest of the year.
The Wimbledon champion is already 4 970 ranking points clear of second-placed Alexander Zverev and could further extend his advantage during the North American hard-court swing.
Sinner's next likely tournament is the Canadian Open, where he will look to build on his lead and strengthen his chances of finishing the year as the ATP's No 1 player.
