This after Molokwane announced at a media briefing in Polokwane on Thursday - that she will be resuming office with immediate effect and will be attending the federation’s SGM on 24 October, despite orders from World Netball to remain sidelined from netball activities.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Diale says the decision to allow Mokolowane to attend the upcoming SGM sits with the NSA council as the highest decision-making body and furthermore advised the council to be wise in its final call.
“Netball South Africa’s Council is the highest decision-making body of the organisation, therefore they have the power to make the decision on whether to allow her to be part of the meeting or not. Collectively we need to be mindful of the implications of allowing her to partake in these meetings,’’ said Diale.
Molokwane made bold claims during her press briefing stating that Diale has not called even once after the suspension and subsequently appointed herself as Acting President.
This is what Diale had to say in response.
“The reality and truth is that she never took my calls every time I called her while she was in office before her suspension. I therefore took a conscious decision to communicate with her on a professional platform via email.
“Schedule 5 of the NSA Constitution grants the Vice President the authority to act in the absence of the President. There is no provision within the NSA Constitution for the appointment of an Acting President,’’ added Diale.
Diale says the current executive will continue to maintain the integrity of the organisation amid commotion between NSA and the suspended President.
“Netball and the integrity of the organisation must always come first. We must continue to prioritise the interests of our sponsors and ensure that all planned activities and programmes proceed smoothly and successfully. Our focus is on ensuring that we execute all the planned activities and programmes for this current financial year that ends in March 2026,’’ she expressed.
