This comes after Netball South Africa and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) announced the 12-player squad that will represent South Africa at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, from 23 July to 2 August.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Maseko says receiving a national team call-up remains a special feeling, adding that she is confident the Proteas are well prepared after two years under the leadership of head coach Jenny van Dyk.
“I don’t think you ever get used to the feeling of getting a national team call-up. Every opportunity to represent your country is valuable and important. It’s going to be tough, but I’m excited because I know we’ve put in the work under the new management over the past two years,” said Maseko.
The goal attack enjoyed an impressive season with London Pulse after joining the club for the 2026 campaign to strengthen their attacking unit.
She helped the side finish second in the regular season with 12 wins and just two defeats, before reaching the Netball Super League Grand Final.
Reflecting on her experience in England, Maseko says the move helped her grow both on and off the court.
“When I went to the UK, I knew it was going to be a completely different environment in terms of training, the people around me and the overall culture. My goal was to prioritise my growth and step out of my comfort zone. I achieved that and experienced the growth I was looking for."
Meanwhile, Netball South Africa President Mami Diale wished the squad well as they prepare to compete in Glasgow.
“We would like to wish Coach Jenny, her management team and the entire squad everything of the best as they head to the Commonwealth Games.
“We have full confidence in them, and we know they will do their utmost to represent the country with pride. As we hand them over to SASCOC, we do so knowing this is our strongest team for the task ahead,” said Diale.
