The win for the Vitality Roses has leveled matters going into the final match against the host this evening at the Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Van Dyk says that she is glad that all her players received game time and were able to express themselves.
"The change of the goalkeeper at the back really made a difference. Look, we could have continued on that but to us before today we only had 120 minutes left to test all our players before the Common Wealth Games,” van Dyk said.
“So, for us, we knew with that first win secured and with the plan of what we wanna do for tomorrow [Sunday] that today is the only opportunity we have to test these players. Both those combinations I feel have a lot of potential."
The 43-year-old mentor adds that the bigger picture is to have clarity on her combinations, and looks to changing her game plan going into the series decider this evening.
"So for us we have to think of a bigger picture at this stage, we just literally don't have any choices, we need to have clarity of our squad. Another thing that we're busy considering is obviously at the moment we've got a split of five fourth and sixth at the back, we need that split to go five, five, five," the coach added.
