Howarth hails Knox Series success as EFC eyes Joburg return

EFC president Cairo Howarth says the groundbreaking Knox Series staged in Cape Town last month delivered unprecedented audience numbers.

While the format is not new globally, its debut in African MMA marked a significant milestone, with Howarth confident the concept has struck a chord with local fans.

Speaking to SABC Sport, he reflected on the success of the event and expressed optimism about its future.

"EFC KNOX Legacy Series was a massive success, we had a sold out arena with over 5000 fans there and we've just received the audience data, and I can say we've had over 100 million viewers from around the world have watched the KNOX Legacy content.

"We couldn't be happier with those numbers and the fights were super exciting with four title fights on the night that delivered from an entertainment value point of view."

Howarth also discussed some big learnings from the event and 2025.

"I would say our biggest learning curve from last year is that nothing is certain and things can change quickly with all the global uncertainty going on. We just have to focus on what we can control and keep putting out a good product by building future African MMA stars."

Attention now turns to Johannesburg, where EFC is set to host its next event featuring a lineup of high-profile bouts aimed at building on that momentum.
