Clocking 31:50, Xaba delivered yet another sub-32-minute performance on familiar streets in the capital city, where she lives and trains.
The win comes just three weeks after she triumphed in the Spar Women’s 10km Grand Prix in Centurion, making it back-to-back 10km titles.
The 30-year-old, coached by Caster and Violet Semenya, pocketed R30 000 for Sunday’s victory—matching the prize money she earned in Centurion.
This season alone, Xaba has racked up over ten wins, including road and track events, all while preparing for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where she will compete in the marathon.
Kenya’s Rebecca Mwangi pushed Xaba for most of the race but had to settle for second in 32:41, with Ethiopia’s Salem Gebre taking third in 33:05.
The sold-out event drew over 10 000 runners, cementing its status as one of the premier road races in the country.
Speaking to SABC Sport after the race, a delighted Xaba said: “The race went well and I’m happy with the result. The body responded well, and the competition was on another level. It really means a lot to me to win so many races this year. It shows my hard work and consistency, and that motivates me. I take care of myself, and I have a great team that makes sure I recover well.”
The national record holder over 10km, 21km, and the marathon also reflected on her turnaround after years of injuries and inconsistent form:
“I need to stay focused because there’s still a lot ahead. I just want to stay injury-free, remain humble, and finish the year on a high note. My coaches are always there for me, and their support means everything.”
Xaba confirmed she will line up next week at the Hollywoodbets 10km in Durban, aiming to add yet another big performance to what has been a career-defining year.
The Boxer Running Club’s star athlete says her efforts are aimed at inspiring the next generation, encouraging them to stay committed and never stop chasing their dreams.
She hopes to see more young local female runners rise through the ranks, embrace the challenge, and deliver impressive times.
