Former SPAR Proteas assistant coach says she’s thankful to have contributed to growing netball in South Africa when she was part of the national team.
Chauke was first appointed as the Baby Spar Proteas assistant coach in 2016 before joining the senior team alongside Dorette Badenhorst in 2019, and also served alongside Norma Plummer at the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Chauke says she will forever cherish the opportunity that Netball South Africa gave her.
"My experience as the assistant coach of the SPAR Proteas has been great, [having been] afforded the opportunity to contribute to the sport of netball in South Africa," said Chauke.
"I was afforded the opportunity to learn from different coaches as well as impact the players that came through the corridors and system of the SPAR Proteas.
"I got the opportunity to travel to different parts of the world, meet different people, and learn new things about myself that I didn't know – opportunities to discover new strengths, new talents, and also have experiences that build character and enhancing resilience.
"So it was a very good experience for me, and I enjoyed every minute of it."
She also congratulated Jenny Van Dyk and Zanele Mdodana on their respective appointments to lead the Proteas towards the 2027 Netball World Cup.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Jenny and Zanele on their new appointments, and I'd like to wish them well as they lead the SPAR Proteas to the 2027 Netball World Cup," she concluded.
