Baby Proteas star Karla Victor excited ahead of the 2025 Netball Youth World Cup

Baby Proteas centre Karla Victor says she’s excited to represent South Africa at the upcoming Netball Youth World Cup in Gibraltar.

This after Netball South Africa confirmed the final 15-player squad to partake in the last phase of preparations ahead of the 2025 World Cup.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Victor says the nerves have calmed down after seeing her name in the final list.

“The stress and everything is done now that the squad has been announced. It’s a privilege and an honour representing our country in September for the World Cup and I mean it’s such an honour, just a few players can be selected to play a World Cup and it’s a dream come true,” said Victor.

Victor says the team’s main goal is to return home with gold and states that they are ready to put in the much needed effort to achieve this milestone.

“We are not gonna take this tournament lightly. We are gonna put every foot forward and I think our goal is to bring back the gold and we’re gonna work for that,” she added.

The 21-year-old shares how the team has benefitted from the preparations so far, and adds that now is the time to fine-tune some combinations with the final squad.

“I think the preparation up until today have been quite hectic because we’ve been playing trials the whole time and now that we have our 15, now we can move forward, working on combinations and working on the small staff, setups and everything.

“So, I think from now on it’s gonna be more pressure working on things but it’s gonna be exciting."
