Aryna Sabalenka cruises into Miami quarter-finals as Coco Gauff battles through

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka powered into the Miami Open quarter-finals with a comfortable victory over Zheng Qinwen.

The defending champion needed just 85 minutes to secure a 6-3, 6-4 win, maintaining her strong form at the tournament.

Sabalenka - a back-to-back US Open winner - looked in control as she advanced to face Hailey Baptiste, who booked her spot in the last eight by defeating Jelena Ostapenko by the same 6-3, 6-4 scoreline.

Fourth seed Coco Gauff also progressed, overcoming Sorana Cîrstea 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in a match that proved more of a challenge.

Despite an inconsistent showing that included six double faults and five service breaks conceded, the 22-year-old American did enough to move on, setting up a quarter-final clash with either Amanda Anisimova or Belinda Bencic.

Playing on home soil, Gauff ntered the tournament after being forced to retire from her third-round match at Indian Wells earlier this month due to a nerve issue in her left arm.

Earlier in the day, Victoria Mboko continued her growing rivalry with Mirra Andreeva by claiming victory in their latest meeting.

The Canadian edged a tight three-set contest 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-0, sealing the win with a dominant final-set bagel to book her place in the Miami Open quarter-finals for the first time.

"Honestly, I think it was just the belief at the end," said Mboko, speaking to Sky Sports.

"I think I could tell at the end, especially in the third set, we were both really tired. I think it was just a matter of some different points that could really have changed the match around, and carry some momentum for me.

"I tried really my hardest to try to convert as much as I possibly could, I think that's just what helped me at the end of the day."
