PSL Friday wrap: Stellenbosch and Golden Arrows record victories

There were two matches played in the PSL on Friday with Stellenbosch and Golden Arrows recording victories over Amazulu and Swallows respectively.

Stellenbosch v Amazulu

Stellies moved into the top eight of the league standings after goals by Iqraam Rayners and Devon Titus gave them a 2-0 win Usuthu at the Danie Craven stadium.

The hosts took the lead in the 17th minute when Rayners exchanged passes with Junior Mendieta in the box before ticking the ball into the back of th net.

After squandering numerous opportunities, Stellenbosch eventually put the result beyond doubt in the 76th minute when Titus ran through on goal and beat Amazulu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa.

Swallows v Golden Arrows

Pule Mmodi scored the only goal of the game in the first half as Golden Arrows beat Swallows 1-0 in their PSL clash at the Dobsonville stadium.

The win moves Arrows seven points away from the relegation zone after just their eighth victory in 23 matches.

Swallows, meanwhile, are still firmly in a battle to avoid the drop as they only sit three points clear of Maritzburg United who are second from bottom.
