Truter explains Kamohelo Mokotjo's lack of game time at Sekhukhune

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has explained midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo’s lack of game time since his arrival at the club earlier this year.

The Bafana Bafana international has started just one game following his return to the Premier Soccer League after more than a decade playing abroad, although he did spend a full year without a club before joining Babina Noko in January.

Truter says competition is stiff in the middle of the park.

"It's about breaking into the line-up. I think [Given] Mashikinya has played well, we also had [Tlotlo] Leepile who's played well," explained Truter.

"Just before Kamo arrived, Given came in and carried on where Tlotlo left off so far Given has been staying on top of his game, but Kamo's definitely had a plus, it's all about getting in the game-time now."

Sekhukhune host Motsepe Foundation Championship side Cape Town Spurs in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 tonight at the Peter Mokaba Stadium and Mokotjo could get his chance.

"Kamo's very close to starting. I have to say, Kamo brings a whole new dimension to the team, but [we're] taking into consideration his long lay-off and the injury set-backs before he returned," he added.

"He did get a start against [Marumo] Gallants and, after speaking to him after the game, he did note that the intensity and style of play are much quicker in domestic football, so he's been involved in a number of training matches and he's adapted well.

"Hopefully we'll see him sooner rather than later."
