Mamelodi Sundowns co-head coach Rhulani Mokwena has not hidden the clubs admiration for Bafana Bafana and SuperSport Uniteds captain and number one goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.
In an exclusive interview with SABC Sport, Mokwena has not ruled out the possibility of Sundowns going for Williams services in the current transfer window.
SABC Sport reported on Sunday about the delay in this deal going through and part of it has to do with the disagreement between the two clubs on how the matter of Ricardo Goss will be handled, whether on a loan or a straight deal.
Mokwena says they will always have space for key players like Williams, particularly with the likes of Denis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene edging closer to retirement and turning 38 this season.
"We've always got space for good players, I don't know who's the national team captain but we've always got space for good players. We want the best players and if the best players so happen to be available then we move in that space," said Mokwena.
"Everybody knows [the goalkeeping department] is a position that needs long-term investment and to try to check up, particularly when you look at Kennedy and Denis reaching close to 40 now.
"They know and they are already incredible servants of this club - Kennedy and Denis have done so much for Mamelodi Sundowns, but the reality is that we race against Mother Nature, and you've always got to try to make sure you are prepared to start a new race.
"But look, it's not as easy as it seems and I'm sure the club will make the necessary announcements in due course."
The Brazilians are also preparing to release up to five players ahead of the start of the 2022/23 season, which gets underway in just over two weeks.
"There'll be a couple of players leaving but we'll make the announcements in due course. There's be a couple - three of four, maybe even five - who will still leave," he added.
