Undefeated India book place in Asia Cup final with win over Bangladesh

As if there was any doubt, India stormed into the 2025 Asia Cup final with a comfortable victory over Bangladesh in Dubai on Wednesday night.

The juggernaut looked uncomfortable at times, but ultimately India secured a 41-run win to keep their undefeated streak alive and put one hand on the silverware.

Bangladesh elected to field first and were quickly put to the sword. India opener Abhishek Sharma continued his swashbuckling batting, putting on 77 with Shubman Gill before the latter fell for 29.

Sharma would go on to accumulate 75 off just 37 thanks to 11 boundaries, before finally being run out thanks to Rishad Hossain's brilliance at backward point. At 112/3 and eight overs remaining, India had a solid launchpad, but failed to launch. Regular wickets with the softer, older ball pegged them back and they managed just 56 more runs to finish 168/6.

While India were underwhelming in setting a target, their bowling attack held up their end. Bangladesh opener Saif Hassan provided the lone resistance with chaos around him.

They were in with a chance at the halfway mark at 74/3 in the 11th over, but Shamin Hossain's dismissal started the rot. Bangladesh lost six more wickets for just 53 runs, with Kuldeep Yadav being the chief destroyer, collecting  3/18 off his allotment. Hassan top-scored with 69 (51).

India await the result between Pakistan and Bangladesh on Thursday to learn their opponents in Sunday's final.
