Bavuma noted that the hosts had a good batting display and put together key partnerships at the Great Barrie Reef Arena, and his team just had no answers on the day.
He says they will sit down and look at exactly what went wrong to try and rectify their mistakes.
"We were put under pressure from the first over, we just didn't recover obviously as a bowling unit and as a team. I think the guys batted obviously very well upfront, like I said they put us under pressure and they were able to stretch their partnership,” Bavuma said.
“So, we probably just didn't pitch up today for whatever reasons. We'll still have those chats, those debriefs but it wasn't our best display of cricket today."
He conceded that their lack of experience in some areas was exposed by their opponents, who won the toss and elected to bat first before going on to post an intimidating 431/2 in their 50 allotted overs.
The opening pair of Travis Head and skipper Mitchell Marsh put together a 250-run partnership as the former was only dismissed in the 32nd over for a 142 top score.
"I mean yeah you could say inexperience but I think the guys play a lot of cricket nowadays to be able to get the necessary knowledge but like I said in the post match chat that it is a learning curve, not just for the younger guys but for even the batters,” he added.
“It's not everyday where you are chasing 420 so to be able to come up with some type of formula, if there is a formula, that's something that we kind of need to keep to terms with."
