South Africa endured a slow start in the 50-overs series, with back-to-back defeats against India in the opening match and against Sri Lanka last Friday.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Luus says they expect lots of spin considering the hot and humid conditions at the R. Premadasa International Stadium.
“India is a very strong team and we know they play hard. We are going to have to be on top of our game to beat them. We expect lots of spin in these conditions and the very hot weather will also play a part,’’ said Luus.
Despite defeat to India by 15 runs in the opening match, Luus believes the team has great potential to hold their own against India and only need to put them under pressure from the get go to help seal a win.
“There were so many positives. I think if we put India under pressure, then we have a great chance of beating them. They are a well balanced team, but so are we and we have all the talent and skill required to beat them,” added Luus.
Luus says that she believes the Proteas have been playing well and can only blame small errors for the two defeats.
“It was a great match to watch. It just shows you that the team who stays the calmest for long will have a better chance of winning. The team has been doing a lot of things right. It's just to put it all together and for the 3 facets of the game to click,’’ she expressed.
