Rubya Haider leads Bangladesh to 7-wicket victory over Pakistan in ICC Women's World Cup

Rubya Haider guided the chase with a composed unbeaten half-century after Bangladesh's bowlers had ripped through Pakistan's line-up.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana chose to bat first, but her side suffered a disastrous start, losing Omaima Sohail and Sidra Amin for golden ducks in the opening over.

From there, Pakistan struggled to recover. A 42-run partnership between Muneeba Ali and Rameen Shamim briefly steadied the innings, but wickets kept tumbling.

Shamim top-scored with 23 as Pakistan were bowled out for just 129 in 38.3 overs.

Bangladesh's bowlers were relentless. Shorna Akter produced a remarkable spell, taking 3 wickets for only 5 runs from 3.3 overs.

Marufa Akter and Nahida Akter also impressed, each claiming two wickets to ensure Pakistan never found momentum.

Chasing a modest target, Bangladesh lost early wickets. Diana Baig dismissed Fargana Haque for 2, while Sharmin Akhter fell for 10. However, skipper Nigar Sultana and Rubya Haider steadied the innings with a 50-run stand.

Sultana made 23 before falling, but by then the game was firmly in Bangladesh's control.

Haider anchored the chase superbly, finishing unbeaten on 54 from 77 deliveries, striking eight boundaries. Alongside Sobhana Mostary, who added 24 not out, she completed the job with almost 19 overs to spare.

Bangladesh will next take on England, while Pakistan face a stern challenge against arch-rivals India.
