Rossouw a welcome boost for Proteas

Proteas captain David Miller has welcomed the return of in-form batsman Rilee Rossouw for the Twenty20 series against England.

Rossouw has been roped back into the fold after a six-year absence as South Africa look to get the better of England in three T20 matches, following the 1-1 One Day International series draw.

With the T20 World Cup also on the horizon, The 32-year-old's return to the international stage could prove the trump card for the Proteas after he was sidelined due to his decision to take a Kolpak contract in 2016.

Cricket South Africa, Rossouw and several other players that took a similar decision have since smoked the peace pipe, and Miller - who captains the side in Temba Bavuma's absence due to injury - says they welcome the in-form left-hander with open arms.

"It's great to have Rilee back, I started my career with him. We welcome him all the way and we're right behind him," said Miller ahead of the first T20 at Gloucestershire this evening.

"He's got a serious record himself, he's been around the world and played in different leagues around the world, and he's got immense experience.

"He's been here in the UK for a couple of years and it's nice to have him in these conditions as well, so a great asset leading into this T20 series and I think it's going to be a cracker for him."

In his last 27 matches in 2022 so far, Rossouw has tallied up 898 runs at an average of 44.90 with a strike rate of 184.10.
