The team last played competitively together on their tour of the Caribbean in July, and have largely been working on some technical things at the CSA Centre of Excellence in Pretoria.
Veteran wicket-keeper Sinalo Jafta says the main purpose for the camp there is to use the conditions similar to those they’ll face in the sub-continent.
"Yeah, I think going into Durban it’s to just iron out the conditions, you know that Durban has similar conditions to your subcontinent teams, so I think that's the reason that we're heading down to Durban but I think for us it's to just go out there and obviously know our different roles,” Jafta said.
“If you saw throughout these six months that coach Mandla's come in, it's been different people at different situations, now it's just really to finetune and iron everything out."
She says the level of competition at the 50-over World Cup is different to that of the T20 World Cup, and they want to play a fearless brand of cricket against the best opponents they’ll face.
"Going into this World Cup is not like a T20 where you have group stages. This is a roundrobbin, you play each team once. So, it's highly competitive and obviously playing every team once, it's different preparation for different teams,” she added. “So, I think for us as a team, it's to go out there and have fun. I mean we are going to Durban now for a camp to just fine tune those missing elements and yeah, to just play competitive fearless cricket."
