Proteas to kick off 2023 World Cup campaign on 7 October in Delhi

The Proteas will kick off their 2023 World Cup campaign on 7 October in Delhi against a qualifier after the International Cricket Council (ICC) released the fixtures.

The opening game of the global tournament will take place on 5 October which will see defending champions England play Zealand at the 132 000-capacity Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in a repeat of the 2019 final.

The lone-awaited India-Pakistan clash will also be held in Ahmedabad on 15 October.

Temba Bavuma's charges will face Australia in their second match of the 10-team tournament in Lucknow on 13 October.

The Proteas will then move on to Dharamsala on 17 October to play a second qualifier before heading to Mumbai to take on England on 21 October.

The South Africans will remain in Mumbai for their clash against Bangladesh on 24 October before going to Chennai to take on Pakistan three days later.

The next game will be on 1 November against New Zealand in Pune before taking on hosts India at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 5 November.

The Proteas will round off their league campaign on 10 November against Afghanistan in Ahmedabad with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals will be held on consecutive days on November 15 in Mumbai and November 16 in Kolkata before the showcase game three days later.
